Arcadius , (377 - 408)
Emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire, born in Spain. After the death of his father, Emperor Theodosius (395), he received the E half of the Roman Empire, the W half falling to his brother Honorius. An ineffectual ruler, he was dominated by his ministers and by his wife (married 395), Empress Eudoxia (?–404).
